There is no single "best" Indonesian maid agency for every family. The best one for you is licensed, transparent about fees, has a strong record with MOM, and has Indonesian helpers who match your household. This guide gives you 10 checks you can do in an afternoon, explains how to read the official MOM agency directory, and shows Suria's own figures so you can compare.

Suria Employment Agency (EA Licence 02C2836) has placed Indonesian domestic helpers with Singapore families since 2002. We specialise only in Indonesian helpers, so this is the question we answer every day.

10 checks before you choose an Indonesian maid agency

  1. MOM licence: the agency's EA licence number should appear on its website and match the MOM Employment Agencies Directory.
  2. Helper retention rate: the share of helpers who stay with their employer. A higher rate suggests better matching.
  3. Transfer rate: how often helpers transfer away early. Lower is better.
  4. Placement volume: how many placements the agency made in the last year, so you know the figures are based on real numbers.
  5. Employer rating and reviews: the MOM directory rating, plus Google reviews that mention Indonesian helpers.
  6. Demerit points: the MOM directory shows any demerit points for breaches.
  7. Published fees: a clear package price with the agency fee, service fee and insurance listed, before you visit.
  8. Replacement terms: how many free replacements, for how long, and whether the agency fee for a replacement is charged.
  9. Indonesia knowledge: experience with Indonesian recruitment, training and the Indonesian Embassy process, and staff who speak Bahasa Indonesia or Malay.
  10. After-placement support: help with work permit renewal, passport renewal, home leave and problems during the contract.

How to read the MOM Employment Agencies Directory

Compare two or three agencies on the same figures and the same period. Figures change over time, so note the date you checked.

  1. Open the MOM Employment Agencies Directory and search for the agency by name or licence number.
  2. Check that the licence is valid and the address matches the office you will visit.
  3. Look at the placement volume, helper retention rate and transfer rate for the latest 12-month period.
  4. Read the employer rating and the number of ratings it is based on: a rating from many employers is more reliable.
  5. Check for demerit points or suspensions.

Fees: what a fair Indonesian maid agency package includes

A full package usually covers the agency fee, a service fee for MOM and third-party costs (work permit, medical check-up, Settling-In Programme, air ticket for a fresh helper) and the helper's compulsory insurance with the security bond guarantee. Ask for the total in writing and what is refunded if you cancel.

Monthly costs are the same whichever agency you choose: the helper's salary, the MOM levy ($300, or $60 with the levy concession) and her food and lodging. A slightly higher package with better replacement terms can cost less overall if the first match does not work out.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the best Indonesian maid agency in Singapore?

There is no single best agency for everyone. Choose a licensed agency with a strong MOM directory record (retention rate, transfer rate, employer rating), published fees and clear replacement terms, and Indonesian helpers that match your needs. Use the 10 checks on this page to compare.

How do I check if a maid agency is licensed?

Search the agency's name or licence number in the MOM Employment Agencies Directory. The licence should be valid and the address should match the office.

What is a good helper retention rate?

The MOM directory shows each agency's retention rate for the latest period. Compare agencies on the same period; a higher rate means more helpers stayed with their employer.

How much does an Indonesian maid agency cost in Singapore?

Package prices vary by agency and package. Suria's packages start from $1,843.10. Ask every agency for the full price in writing, including service fee and insurance.

Should I choose a fresh or transfer Indonesian helper?

A transfer helper is already in Singapore and can usually start sooner. A fresh helper comes from Indonesia and can learn your routine from the start, but takes several weeks to arrive.

Is Suria accredited by the Indonesian Embassy?

Yes. Suria Employment Agency is accredited by the Indonesian Embassy and is a member of the Association of Employment Agencies Singapore (AEAS).
