Other costs of hiring a maid
Besides the agency package, employers pay the government costs directly: the monthly foreign domestic worker levy, the security bond (usually covered by an insurance guarantee) and the helper's monthly salary. Check the current levy and bond rules on the Ministry of Manpower website. Our consultants will give you a written breakdown before you sign anything.

What is included in a Suria package
Every package covers three things: our agency fee for sourcing, screening and matching; the service fee, which pays third-party costs such as the MOM work permit application and issuance fees, the medical check-up, the Settling-In Programme and the helper's air ticket; and the helper's compulsory medical and personal accident insurance.
The difference between Basic, Standard and Premium is how many free replacements you get, how long the replacement period lasts and whether you pay the helper's placement loan upfront or monthly. The agency fee for a replacement helper is $0 on every package.
Monthly costs after your helper starts
- Helper's salary: agreed in her contract, usually from about $550 a month for a fresh Indonesian helper
- MOM levy: $300 a month, or $60 a month if you qualify for the levy concession (for example a child under 16, a parent aged 67 or above, or a person with disabilities in the household)
- Food, lodging, toiletries and a mobile line, which you provide as her employer
- Rest-day compensation if she agrees to work on a rest day (at least one rest day a month cannot be compensated away)
One-off costs to plan for
- Security bond of $5,000 for each non-Malaysian helper, usually covered by an insurance guarantee bought with your package
- Employers' Orientation Programme if you are hiring a helper for the first time
- Six-monthly medical examinations (6ME) during her employment
- Her return air ticket at the end of the contract
How to keep hiring costs down
Check whether your household qualifies for the levy concession before you apply; it saves $240 a month. Choose a transfer helper if you need someone quickly and want to skip the air ticket and some training costs. And ask us to compare packages against how long you expect to need a helper: a longer replacement period is worth more if this is your first helper.
